Palu,  (antarasulteng.com) - The provincial administration of Central Sulawesi said Tour De Central Celebes (TDCC) is expected to contribute to reaching the regional target in tourism development.

The sport event next year is designed to partly to introduce the natural beauties of Central Sulawesi to attract more foreign tourists to the region.

Assistent II in charge of economy and development at the provincial administration secretariat Bunga elim Somba said TDCC was a strategy to attract foreign tourists to the region.

"Yes, Tour De Central Celebes is designed not merely as a sport event but it is to show to the world the natural and cultural beauties of Central Sulawesi with the ultimate goal of attracting foreign tourists," Bunga said here on Wednesday.

He said Tour De Central Celebes would also be highlighted with annual activities in a number of regencies such as Festival of Togean Islands, Festival of Lake Poso, etc.

Each team of the TDCC participants would have a member of 40 cyclists, local or foreign cyclists. The cycling track will run through tourist destinations and objects including marine tourism objects in Central Sulawesi.

"The participants, therefore, would enjoy the tourism objects and cultural beauty of the region," Bunga said.

Head of the regional tourism and creative economy office Norma Mardjanu said around 1,500 foreign and Indonesian cyclists will take part in the race with start from Ampana to finish in the Anjungan Nusantara of Palu.

Norma said the cyclists will run through the regencies of Tojo-Unauna, Poso, and Parigi Moutong, the city of Palu and the regency of Sigi in around 10 days.

The five district and city administrations take part in preparing the TDCC including in face lifting and preparation of visits to tourist objects and creative industry and cultural centers.

"The regency of Poso for example is to prepare the festival of Lake Poso in 2017," Norma said.

Other regions in the country have also held cycling races earlier this year in a bid to attract foreign tourists such as Tour de Singkarak in West Sumatra and Tour de Flores in East Nusa Tenggara
