Investment would boost economic development and open more jobs in the district
Donggala, June 20 (Antara) - PT. Cipta Agro Nusantara (CAN), a subsidiary of the group of Astra Agro Lestari (AAL), will build a fertilizer factory in the district of Donggala in Central Sulawesi.

Donggala Regent Kasman Lassa broke the ground on Monday to mark the start of the construction of the factory over a 9 hectare plot of land in the village of Dalaka, sub-district of Sindue.

The factory, which is expected to be operational in October this year, will produce NPK compound fertilizer with an annual production capacity of 100,000 tons.

"The production capacity is to be doubled as it would produce the fertilizer not only for the AAL group, but also for the local farmers," Fenny Sofyan, a spokesman of PT.CAN.

AAL group, which is a sub-group of the widely diversified corporation Astra International, has oil palm plantations in Central and West Sulawesi.

Community Development Area Manager (CDAM) of PT CAN Bagus Trianggoro said he hoped the factory would be considered an important asset of the regency of Donggala.

Regent Kasman Lassa said he would simplify the procedural matter to speed up the implementation of the project.

He said the district administration would invite any investors and promise to facilitate implementation in the district.

"Investment would boost economic development and open more jobs in the district," he said.

He said in the last two months he had commissioned two development projects including a quay project to back up plan to make Donggala a tourism city .
