Palu, C Sulawesi, (antarasulteng.com) - Central Sulawesi Province has the potential to become a main tourist destination, because it has plenty of natural and cultural attractions, according to Central Sulawesi Governor Longki Djanggola.

The province has beaches, mountains, lakes, water falls, coral reefs, various species of fish and forests, he said in his written statement read out during a seminar on Central Sulawesi Tourism Development Plan here recently.

As for culture, megalithic remnants can be found in Besoa Valley and Bada in Poso District, and the local communities have unique culture and traditions, he added.

The tourism sector in the province has not been managed optimally, despite its potential, particularly in marine tourism, he remarked.

Located in the heart of Sulawesi Island, Central Sulawesi is blessed with rich culture and natural resources.

The province has 19 ethnic groups and 22 languages and dialects.

In the past, the province had 15 kingdoms, comprising seven kingdoms in the east and eight in the west part of the province.

For instance, Madale Beach, which is located about 5 kilometers from Poso town, is a beautiful place for swimming or snorkeling.
