Palu, C Java, (Antaranews Sulteng) - Indonesia is optimistic of winning two gold medals in Karate in the 18th Asian Games to be held on August 18-September 2, 2018, according to Gato Nurmantyo, chairman of the Indonesian Karate-do federation (FORKI).
"That is the target of FORKI. Hopefully, it would be achieved," Nurmantyo noted here last weekend while watching the 20th Karate Championship held on March 23-25, 2018.
FORKI has intensified the training of karate athletes to compete in the Asian Games to be held in Jakarta and Palembang, South Sumatra, this year, he remarked.
Those emerging as winners in the national karate championship will participate in the Asian Games.
The championship was officially opened by Home Affairs Minister Tjahyo Kumolo in Palu. A total of 645 karate athletes from 34 provinces across Indonesia participated in the competition.
