Palu, C Sulawesi,  (Antaranews Sulteng) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla left for the Central Sulawesi provincial capital of Palu on Sunday to inspect earthquake-and tsunami-affected areas and lead a coordination meeting on post-earthquake and-tsunami rehabilitation and reconstruction.

The vice president departed from Hasanuddin Airbase in the South Sulawesi provincial capital of Makassar aboard a Boeing 737-400 presidential plane on Sunday afternoon.

Soon after he arrived in Palu, he is scheduled to go straight to Mpanau village in Sigi district to inspect temporary settlements. After that, Kalla, along with Central Sulawesi Governor Longki Djanggola and entourage will go to the governor's office to hold a coordination meeting on post-earthquake and-tsunami rehabilitation and reconstruction.

During a similar coordination meeting held at the Vice Presidential Office in Jakarta on Monday (Oct 5), the meeting agreed on several points related to rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts including the designation of red zone and the formulation of regional regulation concerning spatial layout plan related to the resettlement of affected residents.

The meeting was attended by Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto, Agrarian and Spatial Layout Minister Sofyan Djalil, Central Sulawesi Governor Longki Djanggola and Chief of the Central Sulawesi Provincial Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) Patta Tope.

A team of researchers from the Geological Body at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry has conducted a research on planned red zone.

The coordination meeting in Palu is expected to decide the area of red zone where no residents will be allowed to reside.

The Central Sulawesi provincial government needs 1,000 to 1,500 hectares of land to resettle the affected residents.
