Palu, C Sulawesi, (Antaranews Sulteng) - The national and international marathon participants at Central Celebes Marathon (CCM), which will be held on April 15, 2018, in Palu City, will be entertained by various customs and cultures from 13 districts or cities of Central Sulawesi Province.
"The runners will pass through a route with 13 indigenous tourism and culture spots," the pioneer of CCM event, Ary, said here on Wednesday.
He stated that the customs and culture shows will be prepared by 13 districts of Central Sulawesi at certain points.
"The runners can stop to enjoy the uniqueness of the customs and cultures of each region. They can continue the marathon after resting for a while," he remarked.
The readiness of setting up the tradition and culture booths has been agreed by all regencies/cities as it is a great opportunity to promote the local uniqueness of Central Sulawesi to international participants.
Ary further revealed that the CCM, which is held in the framework of the anniversary of Central Sulawesi Province on April 13, is an international activity of sports tourism enlivened by national and local runners.
This marathon event has four categories, namely 5, 10, 21, and 42 kilometers, with the number of participants limited to 1,500 people.
"This is the first event in Central Sulawesi, and so we have limited the number of participants to only 1,500, in contrast to the annual marathon event in some areas, which involves a dozen thousand participants," he explained.
Currently, the number of participants who have registered has almost reached the target, with participants from outside the region dominating the numbers.
Ary noted that the events for overseas participants include only the 21 and 42 kilometers categories for boys. The foreign runners are separated from the domestic runners.
"We have separated the foreign and local participants due to the different physical conditions," he added.
The participants will take their costumes and their numbers one day before the event, or April 14, 2018, at the Sport Arena Park of Palu.
The first event for the 42 kilometer class, running through 27 streets in Palu City, will start at 04:00 a.m. local time, with the starting point and finish in front of the Central Sulawesi governor`s office.
"They will run for six hours; however, we will pick up participants who have not reached the finish line in six hours by car," he added.
