Palu, C Sulawesi, Sept 5 (Antara)- Rewang (36) and Andi Anisa (25) have claimed that their respective husbands were arrested by anti-terrorism squad Densus 88 of the Indonesian Police, on Aug 30, 2018.

Speaking to local journalists here, Tuesday, the two women demanded that the police allow them to meet their husbands, namely Amsari (husband of Rewang), and Akbar (husband of Andi Anisa).

During the press conference, they were accompanied by Andi Akbar, a lawyer representing the Muslim Defenders` Team (TPM).

They also hoped that the police would not take their husbands to Jakarta, because, according to them, they came from poor families that cannot afford going to Jakarta.

Rewang said a Densus 88 team searched her house located in Ulujadi sub-district to look for a package that belonged to someone else. Upon her question, a team member said that her husband was fine and being detained in the Central Sulawesi police office.

However, the Central Sulawesi Police said there was no arrest in the name of Amsari, Rewang added.

Meanwhile, Andi Anisa who is seven month pregnant, said the last time she saw her husband was when he received a call from Amsari, who insisted that Akbar must meet him.

The two women recalled that their husbands had met in Petobo prison where they had been detained for homicide cases.

Andi Akbar said as their lawyer, he would demand the police to allow the two women to meet their husbands.

He would also act as a lawyer of the two men whose wives have not received warrants from the police so far.

"Is it true that they are involved (in terrorism)? Because there are quite many wrong arrest cases," Akbar remarked.

On a separate occasion Commissioner Sugeng Lestari, spokesman of the Central Sulawesi Police, confirmed of the arrests of the two terror suspects currently being grilled.
