Palu, C Sulawesi, (antarasulteng.com) - At least 13 military officers were killed when their helicopter crashed in the district of Poso, Central Sulawesi, on Sunday, police said.
Poso Police Chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Roni said among the victims was Todulako military regiment commander Col. Saiful Anwar.
The helicopter crashed near the village of Kasiguncu on Sunday at 18.55 local time.
Roni gave no details of the incident including about survivors if any and causes of the crash.
He said the bodies of the victims had been evacuated to the city of Poso.
The jungles in the mountains in the district of Poso are known to be the hiding places of long sought terrorist group under Santoso.
