Palu, C Sulawesi,  (antarasulteng.com) - The Sigi district government in the Indonesian province of Central Sulawesi is ready to make the international cycling race of Tour de Central Celebes (TdCC) on November 6-8, 2017, a success.

Sigi Vice District Head Paulina Martono remarked here on Thursday that supporting infrastructure and facilities for the success of TdCC, had been completed.

"We have made the supporting infrastructure and facilities ready for the participants of the international cycling race, to be held for the first time in Central Sulawesi," Paulina remarked.

The politician from the Gerindra Party noted that the Sigi district government fully supported the success of TdCC and has made the preparation ready in advance.

National and international cyclists have begun arriving through the Mutiara Sis-Aldjufri airport in the Central Sulawesi provincial city of Palu to participate in the TdCC.

According to information from the TdCC Committee Secretariat in Palu, until Wednesday night, five national cyclists had arrived, and three foreign teams each from the Philippines, Thailand, and Sri Lanka were also expected to land on the same night.

Some 15 teams have confirmed their participation in the TdCC. Some 10 overseas teams have cyclists from 30 countries, with the total number of participants reaching 120.

The remaining participants are expected to arrive in Palu on Thursday, and the TdCC Committee has scheduled a city tour event for the cyclists and officials on Thursday afternoon by offering a horse-drawn buggy tour of Palu Bay.

After enjoying a tour of Palu Bay, the TDCC opening ceremony will be held at the Nusantara Pavilion at Palu Bay Beach, and dinner with the Central Sulawesi governor, Palu mayor, district heads and officials, and other figures will end with entertainment featuring Central Sulawesi`s art and cultural performances.

Some 120 cyclists from 30 countries will participate in the TdCC 2017, and during the race, they will enjoy art and cultural performances, traditional culinary delights, and the beautiful scenery of Tomini Bay.

The three stages of the international cycling race of TdCC will cover a total distance of 487 kilometers and pass through the districts of Tojo Unauna, Poso, Parigi Moutong, and Sigi and the city of Palu.

The first stage will cover a distance of 198 kilometers, with the start from Ampana at 10 a.m. local time, and the cyclists are expected to arrive at Lake Poso at 2:40 p.m. local time on November 6, 2017.

The second stage will cover a distance of 135.6 kilometers, starting from Poso at 9 a.m. local time and finishing at 12:02 p.m. local time in Parigi on Nov 7.

The third stage will pass through Parigi, Sigi, and Palu, covering a distance of 153.3 kilometers. The event will start at noon and finish in front of the office of the Central Sulawesi governor in Palu at 3:34 p.m. local time on Nov 8. (skd)
