Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo is scheduled to formally appoint Commissioner General Listyo Sigit Prabowo as chief of the National Police at the State Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (January 27, 2021).
"Insya Allah (God willing), he (Listyo Sigit Prabowo) will be inaugurated on Wednesday this week," chief of the public information bureau of the National Police, Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, said here on Monday.
President Widodo had on January 13, 2021 proposed Commissioner General Listyo Sigit Prabowo as the lone candidate for the post to the House of Representatives (DPR).
He will replace Idham Azis, who will retire as the National Police chief in early February, 2021.
He underwent a fit-and-proper test at the House's Commission III, which oversees legal affairs, on January 20, 2021.
The DPR approved the nomination of Commissioner General Listyo Sigit Prabowo as chief of the National Police at a plenary meeting.
