Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo stressed that the task of the bureaucracy must ensure that the people enjoy the benefits of development that has been carried out by the government.
"Based on bureaucracy reports, the program has been run, the budget has been spent, and the accountability report has been completed. When being asked, the answer is 'the program has been implemented, sir'." But when being checked, the people have not yet felt the results," the President said in his inaugural remarks following the swearing-in ceremony of the President and Vice President for the period of 2019-2024 at the Parliament Building, Jakarta, Sunday.
According to Jokowi, the government's efforts should not focus on process, but it must be oriented towards tangible results.
The president said that he often reminded his ministers that the task of the government is not only to make and implement policies, but also deliver it to the people so they could enjoy the development benefits.
"The task of the bureaucracy is to ensure that the benefits of the program can be felt by the people," the president remarked.
President Joko Widodo earlier pledged to enable Indonesia to get out of the middle income trap by 2045 in his inaugural address after taking an oath of office as the President of Indonesia for the 2019-2024 term.
"Our dream, our goal is for Indonesia to get out of the middle income trap by 2045, which marks a century of Indonesia's independence," he said following the official inauguration of the country's president and vice president in Jakarta on Sunday.
He explained that, at that time, Indonesia would earn its place as a developed country with the calculated income of 320 million Rupiah per capita per year, or 27 million Rupiah per capita per month.
"Our goal is that in 2045, Indonesia's Gross Domestic Product can reach US$ 7 trillion. Indonesia has been listed in the world's five largest economies with nearly zero poverty rate. We have to reach our goal," Jokowi stated.
