Palu, Central Sulawesi,   (antarasulteng.com) - The writer of book titled `Uncovering the Cikeas Octopus` Dr. George Junus Aditjondro died at a hospital here on Saturday after long illness.

The family of former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is often referred to as Cikeas family for living at the Cikeas area, Bogor.

An activist, researcher and former journalist, Dr Aditjondro had never fully recovered from a stroke hit him in 2012 when he and his family lived in Yogyakarta.

Over the years ailing Aditjondro was still active in discussions on contemporary issues in the country .

In 2014, they moved to Palu after his wife Erna Tenge finished his doctorate study program.

In Palu he maintained intensive communications with his friend among activists in non governmental organizations including Walhi in Jakarta.

Aditjondro was born in Pekalongan, Central Java in 1946. He was known for a number of his articles on the Cikeas family business, which he said was rife with corruption, collusion and nepotism, a similar allegation widely directed at the late President Suharto after his fall from presidency several years earlier.

George won his doctorate from the Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, with concentration on corruption sociology .

He launched his book titled "Uncovering the Cikeas Octopus: Behind the Scandal of Bank Century" in December, 2009.

"He dedicated his intellectual career to fighting corrupt regimes and militarism," Neni Muhidin, a Central Sulawesi literacy activist, said.
